Before you compare: GLP-1 medications require a prescription and a medical evaluation, and they aren't right for everyone, including people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2. Find your fit

Not sure which one? Answer three questions.

Every program above suits a different kind of person. Tell us what matters to you and we'll point you to a good place to start. This isn't medical advice; a clinician makes the final call.

1. Do you plan to use health insurance?
2. Which medications are you open to?
3. What matters most to you?

How we scored them

Every program is scored on the same four criteria. We don't take medications ourselves or publish personal weight-loss results; we compare programs as services, using public pricing and each program's own sign-up flow.

Clinical care. Clinician credentials, depth of review, labs and how fast you can reach someone about side effects.

Medication access. Which FDA-approved GLP-1s are available, and whether compounded options are clearly labeled.

Price transparency. Total monthly cost shown up front, price changes with dose, and cancellation terms.

Ongoing support. Coaching, nutrition help, check-ins and app quality.

Why Pallas Health is our #1 pick

Out of the programs we compared, Pallas Health came out on top for overall value. It was the only program in our top five with no membership fee at all, a single price that doesn't rise as your dose goes up, and a choice between compounded and FDA-approved brand-name medications.

Simple, all-in pricing

Most programs charge a monthly membership and then bill medication separately, and the medication price usually climbs with each dose increase. With Pallas Health, clinician visits, follow-ups, messaging and shipping are included, and compounded plans stay the same price at every dose.

Low risk to start

Nothing is charged at checkout. You're billed only once a clinician prescribes, and refunded in full if they decide treatment isn't right for you. You can cancel or pause anytime with no cancellation fees.

Medical care

Intake, clinician review, check-ins and refills all happen online, and review is often same-day. Prescriptions are written by US-licensed clinicians through an affiliated medical group, and the medical team is led by a physician board-certified in obesity medicine. Most states need no video visit; 7 states plus Washington, D.C. require one to start.

Medication choice

Clinicians can prescribe compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide, prepared by US-licensed compounding pharmacies, or brand-name Wegovy, Zepbound, Ozempic or Mounjaro. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved and are not generic versions of brand-name drugs. The brand-name options are cash-pay and cost considerably more.

Things to weigh

Pallas Health launched in 2026, so there's little independent customer feedback yet, and it doesn't accept insurance. It is LegitScript certified, which means its pharmacy and prescribing practices have been independently reviewed.

A licensed clinician decides whether a GLP-1 medication is right for you. If you're paying out of pocket and want one predictable price, this is the program we'd start with.

Plain-English guide

The words you'll see on this page and on provider websites, explained simply.

GLP-1 medication
A prescription medicine, usually a weekly shot or a daily pill, that helps control appetite and blood sugar. Examples are Wegovy, Zepbound, Ozempic and Mounjaro.
FDA-approved
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has reviewed the medicine for safety, effectiveness and quality.
Compounded medication
A version mixed by a specialty pharmacy. It is not FDA-approved and is not a generic copy of the brand-name drug. It usually costs less.
Telehealth
Seeing a licensed clinician online, by questionnaire, message or video, instead of in an office.
Membership fee
A monthly charge some programs add on top of the medication price. Pallas Health has none.
HSA / FSA
Health Savings Account or Flexible Spending Account. Tax-free money you can use for eligible health costs.
Prior authorization
Paperwork your insurance may require before it agrees to pay for a medication.
LegitScript certified
An independent check that an online health company follows pharmacy and prescribing laws.

Questions people ask

What are GLP-1 medications?

GLP-1 receptor agonists are prescription medications that mimic a hormone involved in appetite and blood sugar regulation. Some are FDA-approved for chronic weight management in adults who meet specific criteria, and others are approved for type 2 diabetes. Only a licensed clinician can decide whether one is appropriate for you.

Do these programs guarantee a prescription?

No. Every provider on this list requires a medical evaluation, and a clinician may decide a GLP-1 medication is not right for you. Reputable programs will tell you that up front.

What side effects should I know about?

Commonly reported side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and constipation. Serious risks can include pancreatitis, gallbladder problems and, in animal studies, thyroid C-cell tumors. Review the full prescribing information and discuss your health history with a clinician.

Are compounded versions the same as brand-name medications?

No. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved, and the FDA has restricted routine compounding of semaglutide and tirzepatide now that the brand-name versions are no longer in shortage. Ask any provider exactly what medication and pharmacy they use.

I'm over 40, or over 65. Can I still use these programs?

Yes. These programs serve adults of all ages, and a clinician reviews your health history before prescribing. Tell them about every medication you take and any heart, kidney, gallbladder or thyroid conditions. Because some weight lost on GLP-1s can be muscle, clinicians often recommend eating enough protein and doing strength exercises. Insurance and Medicare coverage for weight-loss medication has been changing, so check with your plan; several programs here are cash-pay only.

Will insurance cover a GLP-1 medication?

Coverage varies widely by plan and diagnosis. Some programs help check your benefits or file prior authorization requests, but approval is never guaranteed.
